Friday Lynton
Friday Lynton (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based Guyanese-American Metal Artisan, most acknowledged for conceptualizing elaborate Metal Objects/sculptures for the body and home space; her work visibly welds references from the art, design + fashion worlds concurrently. Lynton’s exploration of metal as a medium is a symbolic dedication to her father’s 20+ year career as a Metalsmith.
In 2011, Lynton founded FBF Metal Atelier®, a Design House for Metal-Based Artistry, to provide a creative community where (both) aspiring & skilled Metal Artisans could learn, create & grow together. Over the course of 10 years, Lynton has utilized the Atelier as a creative outlet to tell personal anecdotes from her life, while hand sculpting Metal Objects that align with those intriguing stories.
During her time in residency, Friday will continue the development of Variables Pending; A Performance Art Series an experience designed to show the artistic construction of a Metal Object; typically accompanied by intriguing conversation or curated audio, and An Artisan & Her Process, an exhibition welcoming audiences into her creative process.
“I believe that my relationship to metal has helped to shape my identity as an artist. My 10-year study of its relationship to the body has not only ignited my curiosity but strengthened my connection to the art form.”
