As a meditation on quiet care, intention, intergenerational movement, and labor, CRITICAL BREAKS artist Tanika I. Williams will be joined by choreographer Nehemoyia Young for a week-long virtual engagement of (construct)Clearing. Centering this iterative process in a garden, this work is an extension of the research and development of PRESSING, Tanika’s current work-in-progress.
(construct)Clearing / PRESSING seeks to understand how we wear and repeat family patterns of silence and separation. The work speaks to the experience of migration—moving from country to town, across countries, across towns—and seeks to present the pain around the unspoken suffering experienced during the separation of caregiver and their charge.
Streaming Schedule
We invite you to witness the creative process and development of this work with a series of daily live rehearsals, construction, documentation, dance, labor, and performance streams. Tanika and Nehemoyia will share the building of a garden flower bed and winterization of a garden as a meditation on care.
