Works & Process LayeRhythm (On The Move) with STASIS
Third Thursdays this fall, Works & Process and 92NY with community partner Hi-ARTS present “LayeRhythm (On The Move)” at the Guggenheim (9/15), The New York Library for the Performing Arts, Jerome Robbins Dance Division (10/20), Gibney Center (11/17), and Lincoln Center (12/15).

Embodying the continuum of concert and social dance, LayeRhythm led by Mai Lê Hô weaves a singular mix of freestyle dance, live music, and audience interaction, celebrating the vibrancy of street and club dance cultures. Spotlighting The Hood Lockers, the evening will feature choreographed work from the company alongside improvisations by musicians, dancers, and emcees, captivating young and old, theater and club goers.

CICELY TYSON TO BE HONORED WITH STREET RENAMING
We're going to be celebrating the late and great Harlem native Cicely Tyson in a street renaming ceremony and celebration this Saturday from 12-5 pm.
East 101st Street between 3rd and Lexington Avenues will be renamed Cicely Tyson Way in honor of the late, award-winning thespian. The tribute to the late East Harlem native Cicely Tyson will be marked with a street celebration on the very stretch of 101st where she grew up, featuring an unveiling ceremony with a presentation by the Honorable Diana Ayala, New York City Council deputy speaker. The ceremony will conclude with public dancing to tunes spun by DJ Krayze and Liquitone Entertainment.
The presentation will be followed by appearances by the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Poet Laureate of El Barrio Jesús Papoleto Meléndez, poet Juan Papa Santiago, the Dominican Folklore Dance Troupe, the Caribbean-American Sports, and Youth Movement Steel Orchestra, and many more notable community members.

ONE WALL MOVEMENT Mural Reveal and Celebration

This July we welcomed Mattaya Fitts as our inaugural ONE WALL MOVEMENT muralist. All month she worked on Musa, a mural that now adorns Cherry Tree Park in Harlem, NY. Join Mattaya and the Hi-ARTS community for the Reveal and Celebration of Musa as well as a Planting Workshop with artist Tasha Dougé.

Planting Workshop with Tasha Dougé

A creative planting and community intention-setting exercise curated by Tasha Dougé. Tasha Dougé is a Bronx-based, Haitian-infused artist, activist, and cultural vigilante. Her body of work activates conversations around women empowerment, health advocacy, sexual education, societal "norms," identity, and Black community pride.
Workshop capacity is limited to 20 participants. No registration necessary.
Co-created in partnership with independent and cultural art worker Ayana Ayo, ONE WALL MOVEMENT is a public art initiative that commissions writers, muralists, graffiti artists, and street artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, BIPOC, PGM, femme, womxn, nonbinary, and/or gender non-conforming.
